Reality

When I am out and about I try to keep an eye out for anything that is eyecatching and might work as a linocut print. Having a limited number of colours means that I have to work out what is the essential element that draws me to the scene, then eliminate colours and details until I have something that can be rendered in print but which still captures the essence of the place or object.

Fiction

These prints are works of pure imagination rather than being based on real places or objects.

Some of these prints have a literary inspiration. Sometimes a book will conjure up a really strong visual image which leads me to create a print. Other prints are just images I have dreamt up: literally in some cases as I sometime base prints on dreams. At other times I start playing around with colours and shapes and it leads me towards an image.
